Kerry Peninsula Guided Mini Break

Day 1  Arrive at 17.00 hrs. for a meeting at your guesthouse in Caherciveen where we stay for the next 2 nights of your holiday.  Evening meal together and a general chat about the coming days walks.  After dinner you do a short walk “over the water” to visit some of the excellently preserved circular forts which date from over 2,500 years ago.
Walk Details:  Distance:  5 kms.  Duration: 2 hrs.  Level walk.   Boots optional.


Day 2 A morning transfer will take you to the village of Glenbeigh where you follow the ‘Kerry Way’, over mountain stage and along the old coach route once used by Daniel O’Connell ‘the Liberator’ as he travelled to/from the Parliament in London. To the North you view Dingle Bay and Peninsula and Inch beach, location for many shots in the renowned film  ‘Ryans Daughter’. Overnight in Caherciveen.
Walk Details: Distance: 15 kms  Duration:  5 hrs.  Max. Height: 250 mts. most mountain track, can be damp underfoot, boots essential.


Day 3 After breakfast we leave Caherciveen and do a walk on the Island of Valentia. Crossing from the southern side to the north of this island, you round Bray Head with views off to sea on Skelligs Rocks – Little Skellig and Great Skellig with its famous monastic settlement dating from the 8th century. At the end of today’s walk you transfer to the village of Sneem and our first overnight there with dinner in local restaurant.
Walk Details: Distance: 14 kms.  Duration:  5 hrs.  Max. Height: 245 mts.

Day 4  On leaving the village of Sneem, you walk out along the ‘Kerry Way’ to the spectacular Staigue Fort. As you approach this famous landmark you detour to gain height, cross the local hills and descend on this national monument by a route unique to us as a walk.  Enjoy breath-taking views to the south over the Kenmare Bay to the Beara Peninsula and west towards Derrynane. Overnight and evening meal together in Sneem.
Walk Details: Distance: 16 kms.  Duration:  /6 hrs.  Max. Height: 350 mts.
Mountain trail, open hillside and some road walking.


Day 5 After breakfast, should time permit, you take a short walk from the village of Sneem, on the ‘Kerry Way’, towards the Parknasilla Peninsula and the grounds/gardens of the Great Southern Hotel, on the shores of Kenmare Bay.
Departure for onward journey.
Walk Details: Distance: 5 kms.  Duration:  2 hrs.   Boots optional.  


Holiday Includes: 4 nights bed in room with private shower/ bathroom.  Full Irish breakfast each morning. Picnic lunch (on walking days only), 4 evening dinners, 4 days walking with expert Irish guide who accompanies the group for the duration of the holiday. Transport to/from each day’s walking locations and luggage transfers when required. * Souvenir book, “ Ireland ---- a Travellers Guide.”


Not Included - any boat trips, personal drinks, entrance fees to theatres, parks or museums etc. medical expenses or gratuities.

Please make your own way to the first accommodation, where your guide will meet you at 17.00 hrs. for a short walk followed by dinner with the group at 19.00 hrs.

Please note that Ireland can be a bit ‘damp’ both underfoot and overhead, with some liquid sunshine!  Irish weather is unpredictable and the nature of walks can change quickly and dramatically because of the weather.
